Friday 6 June 2014

'Frisky Friday' is a weekly meme, that is being hosted by 23 Review Street. 'Frisky Friday' can consist of a review of a short novel, regular novel or telling everyone about a novel you are currently reading. 'Frisky' books would consist of new adult books, erotic books, books that contain friskiness in them or all of the above.

The first book to kick off 'Frisky Friday' is The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines.

Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist....

The Vincent Boys is the first book of Abbi Glines that I have read and I loved it, so much so that I can't wait to read another book. The Vincent Boys is unique type of love story, Ashton, Sawyer and Beau all use to be best friends when they were younger, but after seven year has passed things have changed and so did their friendship.
Now seven years later, Sawyer and Ashton have been dating for three years and Beau has turned into a bit of a serial playboy in their small town in Alabama. They have all changed, some more than others. Though it isn't until Sawyer goes away with his family, do Ashton and Beau start talking again, though he was a bit drunk and Ashton had to take him and his girlfriend, Nicole home. But things have changed between them, Beau has Nicole and Ashton has Sawyer, but you can tell that is not what either of them want.
It doesn't take long for Beau and Ashton to fall back into their old ways, Beau brings out the side of her that no one else can see and one she would never reveal to Sawyer or anyone apart from Beau for that matter. Beau makes her question everything about herself, especially who she wants to be with, him or Sawyer, knowing that Beau will always win, though she doesn't want to hurt either of them in the process. Being the daughter of a preacher, doesn't give Ashton the opportunity to be the person she wants to be, though Beau and her Grana know the real her.
After, a tragic event that shakes Ashton world, she falls into the arms of Beau and things start to make more sense and she begins to realise that no matter where she is, she is always going to want and need Beau in her life. It doesn't take long before things start to heat up and both Beau and Ashton fall further into the web of desire and secrets that they have built around themselves.

When Sawyer comes back, Ashton tries to make things work with him, even though it ends up hurting all of them in the end. Though everything that Ashton and Beau did when Sawyer was away, is quickly over shone by the secrets that the Vincent family has kept from both Sawyer and Beau. Things get more complicated that anyone of them thought,
The Vincent Boys is a fantastic novel about friendship, love, secrets and the fine line between family. With the sexual tension and unpredictable consequences, it makes The Vincent Boys a thrilling read that you don't want to end.
If I had to sum up this book in three words, they would be Passionate, Remarkable and Tempting.
